Dk. Efremov et Vb. Fenelonov, THE RELIABILITY OF DATA OBTAINED BY CONVENTIONAL STUDIES OF THE TEXTURE OF POROUS MATERIALS, Kinetics and catalysis, 34(4), 1993, pp. 555-562
The problem of the reliability of pore-size distributions as calculate
d by the conventional processing of the results of capillary adsorptio
n and mercury-porosimetry measurements is considered. Some features of
capillary condensation in the system of interconnected voids are anal
yzed. On the basis of the theoretical approach developed, numerical ex
periments simulating nitrogen adsorption and desorption, as well as me
rcury intrusion into a model porous material with properties given, we
re performed. The isotherms and porosimetry diagrams obtained were pro
cessed by conventional methods of calculating the size distributions o
f independent capillaries. The size distributions calculated are compa
red with the distributions of voids and pore entrances according to th
eir radii for model porous systems, and reasons to account for diverge
nces are analyzed. More realistic interpretations of results obtained
by conventional methods are considered.
