Kinetics of the reaction of n-butanol and aniline with phenyl(azapheny
l)isocyanate in a benzene solution are investigated. Acetic acid and p
olyethylene glycol esters of different molecular masses are used as ca
talysts. The rate constants are calculated using the data for the asso
ciation of carboxylic acids. It is shown that a monomolecular rearrang
ement of a prereactional complex forms the final products. This comple
x consists of one molecule each of n-butanol (or aniline), isocyanate,
and carboxylic acid. According to the data on the catalysis by CH3COO
H and Bu(3)SnOOCH(3), the catalytic activity of Sn(IV) compounds is dr
astically decreased in the presence of carboxylic acids.
