Electron capture rate constants for several solutes in isooctane, cycl
ohexane and n-hexane are reported. The method of measurement, which al
lows determination of the rate constants with an accuracy estimated to
be better than 5%, involves the use of low power pulses of 337 nm lig
ht from a nitrogen laser, and detection of the transient conductivity
of escaped electrons.
