Abstract
A novel bi-functional fluorinated peroxy ester, yl-2,5-bis(heptafluoro butyrylperoxy)hane(2,5-DFH), was prepared by the reaction of 2,5-dimet hyl-2,5-dihydroperoxyhexane with heptafluorobutyryl chloride in the pr esence of pyridine. 2,5-DFH decomposed faster than a mono-functional f luorinated peroxyester such as t-butyl peroxyheptafluorobutyrate[C3F7C O2OC(CH3)(3),.TBH]. 2,5-DFH was also found to be a useful radical init iator for styrene monomer as well as TBH.
