We describe a man with acquired unilateral nevoid telangiectasia syndr
ome, in whom no underlying disease, alcohol abuse or physiological con
ditions causing hormonal changes are demonstrable. To our knowledge, t
his is the first case of acquired unilateral nevoid telangiectasia syn
drome seen in a healthy adult male and not associated with a hyperestr
ogenaemic state and estrogen receptor abnormality. This case report ca
sts doubt on the commonly held view that unilateral nevoid telangiecta
sia syndrome is an estrogen-sensitive nevoid anomaly.
