Vn. Oraevsky et al., ON THE RADIAL GEOELECTRICAL STRUCTURE OF THE MID-MANTLE FROM MAGNETOVARIATIONAL SOUNDING USING MAGSAT DATA, Journal of Geomagnetism and Geoelectricity, 45(11-12), 1993, pp. 1415-1423
Deep magnetovariational soundings have been carried out using the data
of the geomagnetic observatory net and the MAGSAT satellite. Complex
apparent resistivities estimated from satellite data by two independen
t methods are found to be in accordance with numerous mean values obta
ined only from ground data. Assuming the spherical symmetry of the Ear
th's layers the interpretation in the parametric models class of joint
results has been done. The global estimation of the electrical conduc
tivity structure of the Earth's mantle indicates the presence of a hig
h conductivity layer about 200 km thick at a depth of approximately 60
0-700 km.
