Abstract
Using a mean field approximation we calculate the lifetime of thermody namically unstable bilayers of a specific initial conformation in the Widom model of microemulsions. For identical initial conformations of these model bilayers, we study the dependence of the lifetime on the i nitial magnetization of the central layer, the temperature. and the el astic curvature of the amphiphilic membrane.
