The static and dynamic properties of the critical domain structures in
magnetic films subject to periodic modulation of one of the dependent
parameters have been studied. These modulated parameters are the unia
xial anisotropy constant, the Curie temperature and the thickness of t
he film. The inhomogeneous states of such films are defined and the re
spective phase diagrams are constructed. It is shown that uniaxial mag
netic films can be a good model for the investigation of phase transit
ions with incommensurable structures. Using the results obtained, the
conditions for the creation of domain structures with a specified peri
od can be predicted and calculated.
