Aa. Dorda et al., THE EFFECT OF ZINC IONS ON THE PLATINUM-ELECTRODE IN ALKALINE-SOLUTIONS, Journal of electroanalytical chemistry [1992], 364(1-2), 1994, pp. 71-77
Concentrated KOH + K2Zn(OH)4 + H2O and KOH + H2O electrolytes were inv
estigated by cyclic voltammetry and hydrogen-electrode rest potential
measurements. The adsorption of zincate ions on the platinum electrode
is demonstrated by modifications of the voltammograms and shifts in r
est potentials. Interference with the hydrogen reactions in the voltam
mograms by zincate ions prevents the use of the H-2/Pt reference elect
rode for rest potential measurements in zincate-containing solutions.
