The reduction of superoxide ions stabilized on the surface of yttrium
oxide is accelerated as the concentration of ionic forms of palladium
increases. The reduction rate depends on the mode of sample preparatio
n and on the presence of a hydroxyl layer. Hydrogen spillover does not
play a crucial role in reduction.
