Jp. Kupferschmid et al., DESCENDING AORTIC DISSECTION ORIGINATING FROM A JUXTADUCTAL TRAUMATICANEURYSM - TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS, Journal of cardiac surgery, 9(1), 1994, pp. 65-69
A 65-year-old male presented with a descending aortic dissection. His
past history was remarkable for severe blunt chest trauma 26 years pri
or to presentation. Operative and pathologic findings included a postt
raumatic pseudoaneurysm of the thoracic aorta and an aortic dissection
that originated from the orifice of the pseudoaneurysm. The ductal fo
vea, the mouth of the pseudoaneurysm, is an area that may be more susc
eptible to accelerated atherosclerosis and the complications of athero
sclerosis including aortic dissection.
