Hc. Eerens et al., THE CAR MODEL - THE DUTCH METHOD TO DETERMINE CITY STREET AIR-QUALITY, Atmospheric environment. Part B, Urban atmosphere, 27(4), 1993, pp. 389-399
The CAR model (Calculation of Air pollution from Road traffic) is a si
mple parameterized model for the determination of air quality alongsid
e roads (including street canyons) in cities. The calibration of the m
odel, using data from the Dutch National Air Quality Monitoring Networ
k, is described and a limited validation of the model is given. The mo
del supports the implementation of air quality decrees under the Air P
ollution Act by provincial and municipal authorities. Various applicat
ions of the model, including a scenario analysis for city street air q
uality in the Netherlands in the period 1989-2010, are presented.
