A novel approach is proposed to the development of the technology of m
anufacture and the selection of the optimal basicity of iron-ore pelle
ts, which takes into consideration the mineral form of the silica whic
h is present in the concentrate. The laws of strengthening, the temper
ature-time parameters of roasting and the ranges of optimal basicity o
f pellets prepared from magnetite ores of sedimentary quartzites and s
karns are true for all pellets produced from ores of a similar genesis
. This is a main advantage or the proposed approach which makes it pos
sible to save material means on the development of the technology of p
roduction of raw materials on putting new iron-ore deposits into opera
tion.
