The microstructure, domain structure and magnetic hysteresis propertie
s of a Pr-Fe-B system magnetically hard alloy, as-cast and after upset
ting. are studied. Prolonged high-temperature annealing markedly incre
ases the coercive force and residual induction, both in as-cast and de
formed states. High-temperature deformation initiates the formation of
a strong magnetic texture. The results are discussed from the viewpoi
nt of the structural changes in the alloy.
