P. Grandcolas, THE PHYLOGENETIC POSITION OF MIROBLATTA S HELFORD, 1906 AND ITS BEARING FOR THE EVOLUTION OF HIND WINGS FOLDING IN COCKROACHES (DICTYOPTERA, BLATTARIA), Annales de la Societe entomologique de France, 29(4), 1993, pp. 345-349
The genus Miroblatta does not belong to the subfamily Polyphaginae, bu
t to the family Blaberidae, and probably to the subfamily Epilamprinae
. The simple folding of its hindwings (no fan-like anal field) is not
a simple synapomorphic feature of any cockroach family and appears mer
ely to be a symplesiomorphic trait in Dictyoptera.
