Abstract
The analysis of materials including almost all the known specimens, al lows the authors to establish that the subgenus Cantharoctenus include s only four species: 1) C. (Cantharoctenus) minor Kolbe, 1898; 2) C. ( C.) somalius Gahan, 1894; 3) C. (C.) burchelli Westwood, 1865-[66] (wi th three subspecies : C. (C.) b. burchelli Westwood, 1865-[66], C. (C. ) burchelli lomii Muller, 1941, C. (C.) burchelli insignis Gerstaecker , 1871); 4) C. (C.) filippovi Plavilstshikov, 1933 (with two subspecie s: C. (C.) f. filippovi Plavilstshikov, 1933 and C. (C.) filippovi ant ennatus Franz, 1938). Notes on ecology and evolution are added.
