Te. Mcdevitt et al., 2-CHANNEL LASER VIBROMETER TECHNIQUES FOR VIBRATIONAL INTENSITY MEASUREMENTS .2. LONGITUDINAL INTENSITY, Journal of vibration and acoustics, 116(1), 1994, pp. 100-104
This paper extends the application of a two-channel vibrometer techniq
ue from the measurement of flexural energy flow (detailed in Part I) t
o the measurement of longitudinal energy flow. The two-channel longitu
dinal energy flow equations and two one-dimensional validation methods
are presented along with a discussion of how laser vibrometry functio
ns for the measurement of in-plane vibratory motion. Adaptations of th
e energy flow equations to laser vibrometry are also presented. Experi
mental results are illustrated which contain the influence of a bendin
g-induced longitudinal component of motion. Through a mathematical mod
el, the measurement of the longitudinal energy flow is shown to be acc
urate if the influence of bending-induced longitudinal motion is remov
ed.
