Abstract
Samples from the Menen Borehole (West Flanders, Belgium) provide new d atation based on miospores for the Late Devonian and Early Carbonifero us succession in the western part of the Namur Synclinorium. Despite t he discontinuity and the heterogeneity (cores and cuttings) of samplin g, sediments of middle Famennian, uppermost Famennian (Strunian) and l ate middle to late Tournaisian are recognized. The implication of thes e data on the regional geology is emphasized.
