Abstract
An instrument composed of six scales-Cathectic Learning Climate, Profe ssorial Concern, Inimical Ambiance, Academic Rigor, Affiliation, and S tructure-was created to assess the social climate of college classroom s. The processes used to construct the instrument and estimate its rel iability and validity are described.
