Abstract
The stabilization is described of periodic orbits in a high-dimensiona l chaotic system which consists of a laser diode interferometer and a delayed opto-electronic feedback loop. A large number of isomer patter ns of high mode oscillations in a period-four orbit, which essentially exist in a weak chaotic region without an external light signal, can be stabilized by modulating the interfered intensity with the external signal. The modulation frequency is chosen to be equal to a value nea r the imaginary part of the eigenvalue for one of the high order modes which are calculated from the linear stability analysis. The possibil ity of accessing a particular oscillation pattern with a seed signal i s studied experimentally.
