Abstract
Two methods for realizing a SC laser source whose spectral linewidth c an be continuously varied are presented. The first one is based on the injection into a laser diode of resonant feedback from a confocal Fab ry-Perot resonator. It unfortunately leads to a reduced range of spect ral linewidths which can be reached (200 kHz-1.7 MHz) and to undetermi ned features of the frequency noise. The second method consists of the implementation of an electrooptic modulator in an extended cavity SC laser. This method leads to a larger range of reachable spectral linew idths (100 kHz-5 MHz at least) and to a perfect knowledge of the frequ ency noise features of the laser source.
