Abstract
A comparative study of the acoustic impedance (Z(0)), the absorption c oefficient (a) and the reflection coefficient (R) of sever al thermopl astic porous compounds is presented. Seven closed cell crosslinked pol yolefin foams and a carpet of polypropylene staple fibres were analyse d. Measurements of the commonly used polyurethane foams were also reco rded to compare them with the results obtained with the above recyclea ble materials. The behaviour of the sound absorption in terms of the m ean pore size and the type of cell (closed or open) is considered for the analysed samples.
