This article discusses the proton-exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC)
as a high power and energy density power source. The two systems H-2/C
l-2 and H-2/O-2 PEMFC systems were compared over a wide range of missi
on lifetimes. It has been shown that the development of a H-2/Cl-2 PEM
FC could yield a system with power and energy densities inherently gre
ater than currently available in H-2/O-2 PEMFC.
