Abstract
The use of a small rod (5-mm diameter, 20-cm length, code no. BN320, A esculap Ltd., Sheffield, England) inserted extraperitoneally has been a useful tool in aiding peritoneal dissection during laparoscopic hern ia repair. Experience gained in 100 such repairs using this instrument has helped to reduce the operating time in most instances.
