Deprotection of t-butoxycarbonyl group during solid phase synthesis of
peptides can be conveniently and efficiently carried out using a nonh
ydrolytic and neutral reagent, silicon tetrachloride-sodium iodide (io
dotrichlorosilane). The method is simple and rapid. The synthesis of a
pentapeptide fragment (Tyr-Ile-Gly-Ser-Arg-NH2) of laminin, a basemen
t membrane specific glycoprotein, has thus been carried out in good yi
eld and high purity.
