Abstract
The approximation method is widely used in general relativity to simpl ify complicated relativistic problems and the strongly nonlinear Einst ein field equation. However, it is shown that an approximation of the Kerr metric can introduce nonsolvability into the geodesic problem. Th is is explained using the notions of flows, Killing vectors and Killin g tensors.
