Abstract
This paper describes the application of statistical process control (S PC) to enhance product quality at Slave Lake Pulp Corporation. Critica l pulp quality parameters, such as freeness and brightness, are sent t o a mill-wide information system and the SPC charts alert the operator s to out-of-control situations. Corrective action is taken immediately to identify the causes. The overall result of using SPC has been impr oved product uniformity of brightness and freeness by 60% and 26%, res pectively.
