Pf. Penas et al., CUTANEOUS MENINGIOMA UNDERLYING CONGENITAL LOCALIZED HYPERTRICHOSIS, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 30(2), 1994, pp. 363-366
A 28-year-old man had a circumscribed hypertrichotic area on the left
lumbar region since birth. A biopsy specimen showed numerous normal-ap
pearing hair follicles and arrector pill muscles. In the subcutaneous
layer a mass of dense collagenous connective tissue formed the backgro
und in which ill-defined foci of meningothelial cells in nests and pse
udovascular spaces were seen. Collagenous structures (pseudopsammoma b
odies), some of which showed calcification (psammoma bodies), were als
o seen. A diagnosis of cutaneous meningioma was made.
