Abstract
Heterostructures of crystalline organic and inorganic semiconductors b ased on the aromatic compound PTCDA (3, 4, 9, 10-perylenetetracarboxyl ic dianhydride, C24O6H8) are investigated. Crystal growth by organic m olecular beam deposition (OMBD) on different substrates and optical ch aracterization are discussed. Homogeneous crystalline films are attain ed at low growth rates and substrate temperatures from T=77 K to T=350 K. With regard to applications in optoelectronic integrated circuits (OEICs) waveguide structures, photodetectors and a concept for the int egration of these two devices are presented. Due to the low process te mperatures optoelectronic devices can be prepared on already processed III-V and silicon wafers.
