C. Hebert et Hw. Jann, INTRAARTICULAR CORTICOSTEROID TREATMENT FOR STRINGHALT IN A QUARTER HORSE - A CASE-REPORT, Journal of equine veterinary science, 14(1), 1994, pp. 53-54
This report describes a stringhalt gait abnormality that was diagnosed
with intra-articular anesthesia of the right tarsometatarsal and righ
t distal intertarsal joints. It was treated successfully (complete res
olution of the lameness) with intra-articular corticosteroids in the r
ight joints listed above. Clearly this gait abnormality was a function
of right tarsal pain. Intra-articular corticosteroids should be consi
dered as a possible treatment prior to surgical techniques.
