A theoretical analysis has been developed to study the effects of liqu
id subcooling and velocity on the film boiling heat transfer process f
rom a horizontal cylinder to a binary liquid mixture of various concen
trations in a porous medium. The governing equations are solved by mea
ns of similarity transformations. The resulting set of ordinary differ
ential equations are numerically solved by the fourth-order Runge Kutt
a method combined with a shooting technique. Heat transfer results are
obtained for a range of operating conditions.
