Abstract
The first representative of a new class of porphyrins featuring a tetr amethine bridge joining the 2 and 20 positions of the macrocycle has b een prepared and found to undergo the Diels-Alder reaction, yielding s tructures in which functional groups are linked to the porphyrin macro cycle through a rigid, bicyclic bridge.
