Abstract
A new technique for detecting trellis code modulation signals in sever ely distorted channels is proposed. This technique is based on feedbac k of the survival paths from the Viterbi decoder and the equaliser use s these survival paths to update the branch metrics of the decoder. Si mulation results clearly show that the system performance is significa ntly improved.
