Abstract
Recently, Smith and Lennon proposed a new public key system LUC in whi ch the trapdoor is based on the defined Lucas function instead of expo nentiation. The Letter presents some remarkable properties of the Luca s function, which may or may not be disadvantages of the LUC system.
