The significance of selected bacterial infections of felines in zoolog
ical gardens is discussed. Anthrax and malleus are in Germany of histo
rical interest only, tuberculosis went down very strongly. Isolated ca
ses of pseudotuberculosis must be expected in future. Infections with
bacteria of the genera Chlamydia, Pasteurella and of the family Entero
bacteriaceae are also considered. The significance of Clostridium perf
ringens in the so called tiger disease is discussed.
