La. Schuch et al., CORRELATION OF NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL RADIONUCLIDES IN SOILS WITH PEDOLOGICAL, CLIMATOLOGICAL AND GEOGRAPHIC PARAMETERS, Journal of radioanalytical and nuclear chemistry, 177(1), 1994, pp. 101-106
Various types of soil samples were collected in the southern part of B
razil, with depth intervals of 5 cm, down to 50 cm, using a specially
designed sampler. Pedological analysis of these soils were performed.
Nuclear activities of Cs-137 (expressed in Bq m-2 and radioactive natu
ral element (Ra-226, Ra-228 and K-40) concentrations were determined b
y low background gamma-ray spectrometry. Cs-137 concentrations were co
rrelated with radioactive natural element concentrations and pedologic
al, climatological and geographic parameters related to the soil sampl
es collected.
