Ek. Malinovskii et al., SORPTION OF ACIDIC AND BASIC GASES BY MONTMORILLONITE MODIFIED WITH BASIC ALUMINUM SALTS, Russian journal of applied chemistry, 66(2), 1993, pp. 220-224
The chief adsorption characteristics of modified montmorillonite towar
d hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, and ammonia have been determined
and it has been demonstrated that the adsorbate molecules can penetrat
e the stable micropores formed in the mineral structure. A procedure h
as been developed for producing semisynthetic adsorbents based on natu
ral montmorillonite by replacing the interlayer exchange cations in th
e original mineral by oligomeric hydroxoaluminum cations using concent
rated aqueous dispersions with a solid:liquid ratio of 1:12.
