A modified method for melt-texturing of YBa2Cu3O7-x ceramics has been
suggested, consisting in the sample's displacement in the temperature
gradient on the Y2BaCuO5 substrate. The substrate is shown to produce
an eff ect on mass transfer and to promote the formation of large bloc
k pseudo-single crystals. For the best samples the value of the critic
al current density in zero field and LN temperature was of the order o
f 10(5) A cm-2.
