Castleman's disease (CD) is a rare disease of unknown aetiology and pa
thogenesis. We present an unusual case of abdominal CD in whom the fir
st manifestation was an autoimmune haemolytic anaemia presenting 9 yea
rs before the diagnosis. The Coombs test became negative 2 months afte
r surgical resection of the mass, suggesting that the mass was the sou
rce of the autoantibody. CD may be present in autoimmune haemolytic an
aemia in patients with no evidence of any other disease.
