Abstract
A workshop titled ''Age of Onset in Late-Life Depression'' was cospons ored by the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on the Psychobiology of Depression and NIMH in November 1992. The purpose was to better de fine the relevant methodological and conceptual issues regarding age-a t-onset research and to address the ways in which age at onset might m ore fruitfully inform progress in understanding and treating late-life depression. This paper summarizes the workshop and includes consensus recommendations for future investigation.
