V. Tzelepis et al., PASSIVE HARMONIC MODE-LOCKING IN ALL-FIBER SOLITON LASER - ENERGY-STATES AND STABILITY ASPECTS, IEEE photonics technology letters, 6(1), 1994, pp. 47-49
The behaviour of a passively mode-locked soliton laser, under differen
t energy states, is studied by using a numerical simulation. The short
er pulse obtainable is determined, pointing out the soliton properties
of the output pulses. In the case of harmonic mode-locking, power qua
ntisation related to the number of existing pulses in the cavity, is o
btained and repetition rate instability is detected. It is found that
by introducing a narrow band optical filter in the cavity and by optim
ising the filter bandwidth, this instability is substantially reduced.
