Abstract
The effect of varying magnetic field strength on the frequency of osci llatory motions for cellular multimode magnetoconvection has been inve stigated. In addition the influence of the thermal, viscous and magnet ic diffusivities have been taken into account and the range of preferr ed horizontal scales established. The relationship between the period of oscillation and the magnetic field strength is determined.
