Abstract
In order to measure small diffusion coefficients of miscible fluids, t he deflected beam technique was improved by introducing a method where by deflections corresponding to different positions of the laser beam were compared. The method requires only knowledge of the vertical posi tion difference DELTAz of the laser beam at different times, without a ny requirement for an assignment of the initial vertical coordinate of the fluid interface.
