The manifestation of a superconducting pp DELTA in optical spectra for
frequencies omega much greater than DELTA/HBAR corresponding to inter
band transitions is studied. A characteristic structure in the differe
nce spectrum of the superconducting and normal phases, with its width
connected with DELTA, is predicted. Experimental manifestations of the
predicted effect are discussed. The results of femtosecond spectrosco
py of YBa2Cu3O7-delta films are analyzed in the light of the present s
tudy.
