Abstract
The traditional model of countertransference considers mainly therapis t reactions to particular characteristics of their child patients. A b roader model of countertransference is discussed here in which therapi st reactions toward the child may be displaced onto the parent(s) or t herapist reactions to the parent(s) may be acted upon in the treatment of the child.
