Rm. Genta et Ma. Rosen, TRANSITIONAL-CELL CARCINOMA OF FOSSA-NAVICULARIS IN A MAN WITH 3 OTHER SYNCHRONOUS MALIGNANCIES, Urology, 43(2), 1994, pp. 251-254
Transitional cell carcinoma arising from the anterior portion of the m
ale urethra is rare, with less than 10 cases reported in the literatur
e. Our patient had a high-grade, highly invasive transitional cell car
cinoma originating in the fossa navicularis and extending proximally a
long the corpus spongiosum, the corpora cavernosa, and blood and lymph
atic vessels. In addition, the patient had a concurrent low-grade pros
tatic adenocarcinoma, a large basal cell carcinoma of the nose, and a
squamous cell carcinoma of the penile skin. The previously reported ca
ses are reviewed, with particular reference to the possible associatio
n of these tumors with human papillomavirus infection.
