Abstract
Fine-needle aspirates from four hyalinizing trabecular thyroid adenoma s stained with May-Grunwald-Giemsa showed a distinctive component of p urplish red stromal deposits corresponding to accumulations of basemen t membrane material occurring in such tumors. Recognition of these dep osits helps to prevent cytologic overdiagnosis of malignancy in this r are benign tumor which has a number of traits in common with both papi llary and medullary carcinoma of the thyroid.
