D. Ouellet et al., SIMPLE FORMULAS TO COMPUTE MAXIMUM STRESS IN THIN-RIM SPUR GEARS, Transactions of the Canadian Society for Mechanical Engineering, 17(4A), 1993, pp. 687-698
Using stress values obtained by the finite element method (FEM), simpl
e formulas are proposed to compute maximum stress around tooth fillet
of thin-rim spur gear. They can be used to compute the stress distribu
tion caused by the deformation of the tooth and/or by the deformation
of the rim. The results are compared with others already published. Th
e parameters of the formulas are diametral pitch and rim thickness for
internal and external gears. The fitting pressure and the presence of
a keyseat or spline teeth are also considered for external gears.
