An optical thermometer stable to electromagnetic disturbance has been
investigated. The thermometer consisted of optical fiber cable that ha
d a heat sensitive probe at the end of the cable. The probe consisted
of a housing tube, quartz core and liquid clad. Near the temperature a
t which the refractive indexes of quartz and liquid were equal, light
transmission of the fiber changed greatly with slight variation of tem
perature. Consequently, a thermal resolving power of 3 X 10(-4)degrees
-C was obtained.
