Ii. Gerashchenko et al., SELECTIVE ADSORPTION OF LIPID-CONTAINING BLOOD COMPONENTS BY HIGHLY DISPERSE SILICA, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 55(4), 1993, pp. 613-615
The effect of highly disperse silica on the protein and lipid composit
ion of blood serum was investigated in experiments in vitro. Disk elec
trophoresis was used for separation of lipoprotein complexes, and the
individual lipids were quantitatively determined analytically. It was
shown that blood lipoproteins are sorbed on silica much more actively
than proteins not loaded with lipids.
